Short Stories

We love the short story form. It affords the opportunity to present smaller ideas, almost passing thoughts in a delicious way. Short stories also give you a chance to sample a writer’s style and find those you want to read more of.

Float Street Press currently publishes mainstream stories as well as science fiction. We have several science fiction stories out now, by J. Reid Beckett and Tilly Jupiter, and we have a series in the works that we will be talking about later–when it is closer to release.

Unlikely Stories (Amazon) and The Jeweled Web (Amazon), both by Javaid Qazi, are short story collections available in paperback as well as ebooks. Several of the stories are also available individually.

The short stories listed in the tab above are available at most online retail stores, including Amazon, Barnes & Nobel, Kobo, and the Apple iTunes Bookstore.

We also have some stories that are free–just click on the Free Stories Tab to see a list.

An Amazon Review for UNLIKELY STORIES:

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent stories from Pakistan to Silicon Valley December 7, 1998
By A Customer
Javaid Qazi’s first collection of short stories is notable both for their insightful nature and amazing variety. A country-western barfly, Silicon Valley office workers, a doctor and his family in Pakistan, a lustful maid in Portugal, and a German ‘stripteuse’ populate these tales. Throughout the world Qazi finds interesting people in interesting dilemmas. His language is as original as it too is varied. A highly recommended first book by an upcoming writer who measures up internationally.
